When will Photoshop CS5 be released?
Photoshop CS5 is due to be released by spring (April 2010) and at the latest by mid 2010. Adobe seems to release new CS version at least a year and a half apart.
What’s new in Photoshop CS5?
From the Photoshop laboratory it seems there are several wins in the CS5 version release. Many would prefer a revised interface, though it seems things may change more in the under the bonnet area as opposed to a smart new user interface. So what do we think we will see in the final release of cs5?
http://www.vimeo.com/5024379- General improvement on brushes whether blending or mixing variants, with the menu restructuring.
- A enhanced Photoshop workflow
- Patch Match – an incredible improvement on the healing tool
- Colour mixing just like a real painters palette board
- Greater font organisation
- Greater control using the warp tool.

PC World Review
So what does the video of the next version of Photoshop CS5 reveal?
The video shows a selection of features that are being developed by ‘Photoshop Labs’, including Painter-style brushes, a new warp tool and more. The new brush tools aim to match that found within Corel’s Painter application. The video shows ‘wet’ paints being smudged, smeared and blended.
It also shows an on-screen representation of the 3D properties of a brush, showing how it has been twisted to lay down different stroke types. A similar system After Effects’ Puppet tool has been added to Photoshop, enabling artists to warp image by placing pins into areas to lock them down, then moving the areas around them. An overlaid grid shows how the image is warped.
Adobe isn’t saying that these tools will definitely be in Photoshop CS5 — or any future version of Photoshop — as the company doesn’t want to be legally tied to releasing them, but tools from “here’s just a little something we’re playing with” sessions like this usually work their way into the next release.
CS5 Technologies
There are new brushes with a real feel to them. Science has dictated paints and brushes to work with somewhat greater reality in this release, whereby they can be smudged, smeared, mixes and blended. Stroke types are far more realistic.
The patch match has recomposition (reshuffling) and image retargeting. You really have t see these in action to see how they work. They definitely seem a good improvement and are sure to be popular.
CS5 will apparently have much better multi-threading capability enabling it to exploit multi core or multiple processors more effectively.
The new Logo
It’ll also be interesting to see what the new logo will be like. The current logo uses the letterpress effect which is partly why it has been so popular.
>This could be the new Logo , personally I prefer the current one.
