35 Stunning 50’s Posters

Continuing on our theme of movie posters from each decade here are a selection of posters form the 50’s.
In the early 1950s Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning were enormously influential. Pop Art used the iconography of television, photography, comics, cinema and advertising. With its roots in dadaism, it started to take form towards the end of the 1950s when some European artists started to make the symbols and products of the world of advertising and propaganda the main subject of their artistic work. This return of figurative art, in opposition to the abstract expressionism that dominated the aesthetic scene since the end of World War II was dominated by Great Britain until the early 1960s when Andy Warhol, the most known artist of this movement began to show Pop Art in galleries in the United States.
We’ll probably only show 1940’s then be back to the digital stuff , hopefully with last weeks 60 Awe-Inspiring 60’s Movie Posters and the others like 52 Eye Catching 70’s Movie Posters you’ll have a much better insight into each decades style. We’ll aim to get some film poster tutorials made over February and incorporate the image styles shown here.
