The Top Design Feedback Sites & Forums
Design feedback is what a lot of us are looking for. This is good; an objective view definitely makes you look at your designs more truthfully. If it either needs improvements or has hit the nail on the head we designers love to know where we stand.
There is a new kind of website (new to me) that has emerged from a need to organise the way we get feedback. A good example is Concept Feedback, a site that you submit work to be reviewed be other professional designers. This has a massive benefit if you are freelance or run your own business as you just don’t have the interaction working in an agency has.
There are quite a few feedback sites around some of them are paid for, which I don’t use as you can get good feedback for free from forums and free feedback sites.
As we say in the UK ‘it does exactly what it says on the tin’ or WYSIWYG: you get feedback for your concepts. It can be any design related concept from a logo or fl-yer to a UI or website. You have to sign up and review 5 other designs for every design you post, which is fair and keeps people involved. My experience with it is a professional and friendly community. It totally is free with a premium service where you can bypass the 5-review rule.
Is a brilliant idea that is totally anonymous. You post an idea which is viewed for 5 seconds, then people are asked to remember any element of the design that they can.
While you need to purchase tokens to unlock some premium test features, you can create and run as many tests as you like for free.
Requires you have a widget installed on your site to generate feedback. There are extras features such as iphone apps; this site is only useful if you have a blog. This is much less community focused and seems more commercial.
They provide a widget which can be embedded into your website to gather feedback effectively but has a couple more features such as iphone apps and suggestion moderation if you pay $10 a month.
Is one of the better review sites I’ve come across , it only lets you post a site once you have enough points and the reviews have to be 100 words or more.
This is a one man band , you simply submit a design andRaed Skaik will get back to you in 24 hrs. I’m still waiting for my review but the site seems professional.
This is a blog focused on reviewing recent designs. You can submit any design you like which is great for ranging your profile and brand awareness.
Forums
Forums offer free feedback in the form of critiques for free. They are generally and excellent way to be more active in the design community. You can generally ask any question and someone will answer.
As in any community you get out what you put in and the best way is to answer some questions and add to the discussions. This all adds up and can definitely help drive traffic too your site or folio.
This is the forum I use quite frequently to get some feedback. It has a professional and friendly community who genuinely care. It also covers a broad range of marketing, business promotion and career advice topics.
All graphic design is a fairly large and busy forum good for getting some intermediate level feedback and friendly advice.
Estetica are popular and mid sized, it’s also a good place to get some feedback just post your concept in a new thread.
GDF is one of the oldest and biggest design forums around; they have a large feedback area and cover areas from web design to print design. They also have a classified section where you can post and get design work.
We routinely publish collections of useful resources like this one. If you found these useful, please consider subscribing to our feed by RSS so you don’t miss these posts.
